EXCELLENT Based on 31 reviews Vino72023-11-12Verified Absolutely fantastic Booked the windmill for dinner on Saturday evening received a warm welcome we were a bit early so had a drink at the bar first, we had the Tasting Menu and ordered our wine while enjoying our drinks. Had a table in the corner so we could see the whole restaurant lovely old interior nice cosy feeling every dish is explained to you on arrival all of them faultless good choice of wines and ports service was excellent and friendly we have had a few tasting menus over the past and this was on a par with some of the greats absolutely delicious we will be back. Steve C2023-10-22Verified A Culinary Delight Beautiful setting in an old house adjacent to the windmill. Friendly and knowledgable service from Nancy. From the Saturday lunch menu, we had the focaccia bread from the nibbles menu, the chicken liver parfait from starters - which was presented amazingly well, and tasted even better. For main course we had the corn fed chicken and the stone bass with fennel, both came with sauces which complimented the dish perfectly. The respective wines, Patricia Temperanillo and La Mancha Sauvignon Blanc completed the respective chicken and fish dishes perfectly. However, the chef outperformed himself with the desert, we had the dark chocolate, with rose water cream and blackberry cream. I won’t spoil the surprise when you eat it but it was delightful. We are very lucky to have 5-star cuisine which would cost hundreds in London but is good value. Next time, we are hoping to try the taster menus but it would take something special to beat what we had today! foodfan622023-10-20Verified Wedding anniversary to remember We had our 39th wedding anniversary here. We had a fabulous time. We had an 8 course tasting menu. Every single mouthful was wonderful. Tom owner and head Tom is so talented the combination of flavours blow you away. Nancy in front of house is welcoming and friendly. I’m sure a Michelin star is not far away. PaulofPleshey2023-10-10Verified Wonderful anniversary event We took over the restaurant for a special anniversary dinner. There were 31 of us and we had a marvellous night. We had the tasting menu with accompanying wine flight. The food was great - interesting, well presented and delicious, the service was impeccable and the accompanying wines were well chosen. We were in the Mill room which is very cosy and has a great atmosphere. Nancy was a super host and everyone had a terrific time Roy M2023-09-22Verified Great hosts and exceptional food. Fantastic combination of flavours and wonderful presentation. We will be recommending Tom and Nancy’s restaurant to all our friends. Nancy was a tremendous host and made us feel very welcome from the outset. And Tom is a very accomplished chef. I would recommend the tasting menu to experience Tom’s imaginative and creative dishes. The combination of flavours and textures in each course was excellent. It is difficult to choose a favourite course but the salmon and duck courses were just exceptional. We really enjoyed our experience at The Windmill and are already thinking of when we can return. John V2023-09-16Verified Wedding Reception in the Millers Room We held our Wedding reception here and hired out the Millers Room which was just perfect for our group of 18. The food & wine was fantastic, especially the food which was a very high standard. Big thanks to Nancy & her team for making an unforgettable afternoon, we will all be coming back soon! grahame f2023-09-07Verified A star rising in the culinary firmament Our family used to go to the old Windmill, which was excellent. We have been eating here since it re-opened with Nancy and Tom, and can only rate it as superb. The dishes are faultless, in terms of innovation, presentation and of course, taste. The combination of ingredients in our cured salmon starter, though unusual, worked perfectly. The tender duck breast mains on a shredded, pickled mooli twirl, was a further delight. I am delighted to see their new wine list, which includes some good Burgundians. Our meursault was creamy yet dry, and not served too cold either— just perfect. We can’t wait for them to hit the Michelin heights where they obviously belong, and with a wine list to match — pure heaven. Rachael B2023-08-12Verified Best Sunday lunch venue We visited for Sunday lunch and the food was exceptional, everyone loved their choices. Service was informative, prompt and friendly and we felt the Sunday lunch option offered value for money. Marie B2023-08-06Verified Fabulous Had promised to return again to this lovely pub/restaurant after our first visit on Christmas Eve for a gorgeous meal. Our visit this time was for Sunday lunch and it did not disappoint. Greeted by the lovely Nancy who looked after us for a drink in the casual cosy bar area and then throughout our meal. Tom’s food was perfectly cooked and the attention to detail and presentation to the dishes was outstanding. It was great to see that the couples passion and hard work is paying off and we hope that their business continues to thrive as we will definitely be back again soon! John F2023-06-11Verified Great Food and Drink and Service Back to one of our favourite restaurants. A warm welcome and great food and drink. A small choice. But everything looked yummy on the menu. Chicken liver parfait and raw scallops to start. Tenderloin of pork and halibut for mains. A little wait to make room for a chocolate dessert and compressed strawberries. All presented beautifully with lots of interesting flavours. Already booked for a return visit.
EXCELLENT Based on 238 reviews R Scarrott2024-10-25Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We didn’t stay in the rooms but we Visited the restaurant. Excellent service. Food is superb. This is closer to Michelin star food than pub meals. Very creative and great value for money. Very accommodating of all ages, allowed us to have our baby & pram with us. Graham Patterson2024-09-29Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Out of the way restaurant that is well worth the time taken to get there. Food is excellent, fresh, high quality and well presented. Serving staff are friendly and helpful. Best described as a restaurant with a couple of rooms for when you don't want to have to have a designated driver. The Windmill is certainly busier than last time we were here which is good for the couple that run it. Needs to be careful not to let the service deteriorate as the numbers increase. Really lovely place with great food! peterhuli2024-09-07Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Had an excellent 8 course degustation. Each course, paired with wine, was really good and looking forward to going back there again. Ramsey Kechacha2024-08-24Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We came here for our anniversary celebration and had the 8 course taster menu (obviously). From start to finish it was outstanding in every way and comparable in quality to Michelin star restaurants I have been lucky enough to visit in the past. My particular highlight was the rose ice cream dessert which was mind blowing. The service and hospitality was also excellent and they were very welcoming and accommodating of my grumpy 2 month old baby! The only thing we want to do differently next time is add on the overnight stay and breakfast.
